                                                   History of the temple

The history of the temple dates back to 1200yr old, it is believed that when kanva maharshi did tapasya and meditated on lord narasimha on this hill ,lord narasimha gave darshan with his yoga narasimha form just like when he came out of the pillar to kill the demon hiranyakasipu and saved his devotee bhakta prahlada, hence it is also called as kambadha(pillar) narasimha, and the deity of narasimha here is said to be swayambhu(self incarnated), and he is meditating in yoga mudra posture, there is a dam built in the name of kanva maharshi in channapatna, and his hermitage is also said to be in the circumference of the temple.

In this temple the yoga Narasimha deity is of the form that is coming out from the pillar, the deity is small and very beautiful, and also there are deities of Dashavataram of lord Vishnu. the temple attracts huge crowd in the month of Shravana(July/august) and especially on Saturdays in the month of Shravana, it is said to be more crowded on these days.one's desires will be fulfilled when one prays in devotion to lord yoga Narasimha here as he is Bhakta vatsala.

All glories to kambadha yoga Narasimhadev!!
